The following message from NAVSEA confirms there are no other applications for Saratoga, and the window for anyone else to submit one is now closed. In effect, this has now become a sole-source negotiation. So long as we meet minimum requirements, we should be able to obtain the ship.

As you know, the Navy received the USS Saratoga Museum Foundation's donation application on October 17, 2000. The Ship Donation Program established a deadline of April 17, 2001 to receive any additional application(s) for the donation of the aircraft carrier ex-SARATOGA (CV 60). This information was published as a notice in the Federal Register, on October 2000. The Navy received no additional application(s) for this vessel.
