On August 27th, 2006, the Saratoga Museum Foundation hosted a Veterans Appreciation Picnic, held at the Shriners Masonic Youth Center in Warwick, RI. The response to the broadcast invitation to this event, where serving military, Veterans, their families and friends were all invited, was overwhelming. The picnic, which was free to all, took advantage of this year's political season by drawing 24 of the 26 registered candidates for office in the state. With nearly every candidate for statewide office making an appearance at the picnic, we in turn took advantage of this extraordinary non-partisan political event by showcasing a platform of Veterans' issues specifically drafted for the Veteran's Appreciation picnic (you can read more on these issues by selecting this link).
The photos below give some indication of the crowd which packed the pavilion, in spite of the threatening weather that day. Click on any photo to see a larger view, it will display in a new window (no need to reload this page).

TV cameras focus in on Guillaume de Ramel, Democratic Candidate for Secretary of State, as he pitches potential voters. To his right, Spencer Dickinson, Democratic candidate for Lt Governor, does the same. Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Reginald Centracchio can be seen working the crowd in the background (in suit, near umbrella).
